Lockdown tips to soothe you!

Hello lovely,

This is a bit of a different message from me today because I want to acknowledge this unique snap shot in time that we find ourselves in.  

Now as we are about to enter 2nd lockdown, I have a few suggestions which might make things a little easier for you.

Ask for help

For those of you who are struggling, I see you and if I can do anything at all to help, please reach out. You are worthy and deserving of support. Asking for help is not a sign of weakness, it shows a willingness to care for yourself and most people are pleased to be asked as it shows your trust in them.

Instead of trying to do it all and then getting angry at yourself because you can’t quite manage it, try asking for help instead. There are people ready, willing and able to support you, I invite you to give them the opportunity.

Self-care

It is more important than ever that you take good care of yourself, you can’t possibly expect to fully function if you are running on empty.

Let go of things you cannot control

So much is happening around you at the moment that you have absolutely no control over.

You can’t make people wear masks or stop them meeting up in large numbers and so, I suggest you just focus on what you can do, not on what you can’t. Absolutely play your part in adhering to the rules and keeping yourself safe but then, let go of anything more.

It’s not in your power to change how others behave, but it is for you to choose how you respond.

I invite you to let it go and once you do, the negative energy will disappear with it.

Think good thoughts

Remembering that your thoughts make your feelings and it is up to you what you think. It is completely your choice and you can reframe any situation to make your thoughts good ones.

Your thoughts are yours to change, and reframing situations can help you so much.

Not least because changing your thoughts to positive, gentle ones, you change your feelings to match. As a result, your body will not produce cortisol, thereby helping to keep your stress responses at bay.

Look for rainbows

For me rainbows symbolise optimism, they are a sign of hope, an indication that there is sunshine mixed in with the rain. Please look for signs of hope and remember whatever you look for, you will find.

Look for joy in your everyday activities whether that be anything from a walk in nature, mastering a new skill to celebrating a supportive friendship. Once you start to look, you will find you are surrounded by joyfulness.

You live within your head 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, so I invite you to make it a good place to be. By making some small changes, it could change your entire experience over this time.
